Streamlined Checkout™ Knowledge Base

Free
Shipping Message

After installing Streamlined Checkout™ for
the first time, some merchants find that the
Standard Ground shipping methods shows Free
Shipping rather than the default value.
This occurs if prior to the installation of
Streamlined Checkout™ the StoreFront™ cart
is configured for the following:
■
Free Shipping is enabled under
Storewide Discounts in Merchant Tools
■
Carrier Based Shipping mode is
enabled under Shipping in Merchant Tools
■
Shipping Cost is set to 0 for some or
all products under Product Fulfillment in
Merchant Tools.
Since the StoreFront™ default shipping cost
is 0 and many merchants have Free Shipping
enabled, this is a common scenario.
The fix for this is to either

Disable Free Shipping in Merchant Tools
■
Reset all the Shipping Cost for
products to a non-zero value - typically a
minimum shipping
charge such as $4.95. Note that for Carrier based
shipping this shows only as a backup method
if the StoreFront cart cannot communicate with the carrier.
Changing the Shipping Cost manually
through Merchant Tools for a large number of
products can be time consuming.
Alternatively, if you have direct access to
the cart database through a SQL database
editor, you can directly edit these values.
If you have access to a SQL query editor,
you can execute a query such as:
UPDATE Products SET ShipPrice = '4.95' WHERE
(ShipPrice = '0')
Caution: Directly editing your
StoreFront™ database can cause problems and
potentially crash your StoreFront™ store -
take great care when directly editing your
cart database. Digital Beach and
Streamlined Checkout™ take no responsibility
for changes made to your database or any
problems that may arise when editing the
database directly.
Free Shipping Configuration
Alternatively, Streamlined Checkout™
supports the ability to set Free Shipping
for specific products. If you have specified the Free_Ship_By_Product="True"
parameter (see Parameter
Definitions below) then regardless of the configured ship method,
if a product's ship price is defined as 0
(zero), that product
will be treated as a Free Shipping product.
This gives you the ability to run free
shipping promotions on an individual product
basis.
Also, Streamlined Checkout™ can be
configured to support Free Shipping Coupons.
