Streamlined Checkout™ Knowledge Base

Hiding
the License Message

Merchants occasionally experience trouble
hiding the Streamlined Checkout™ license
message that appears at the top of the
shipping page. This message shows
after the 5 day free trail period if the
license key is not present in the site
web.config file or is not a valid license
key that matches the value for the SiteURL
found in StoreFront™ database Admin table.
Installed correctly on a StoreFront™ cart,
Streamlined Checkout™ and Streamlined Shipper™
operate normally without license keys.
However, after a 5 day free trial
period, then display a license message at
the top of the page where they are
installed. In order to remove this
license message, a valid license key must be
generated and installed on the web.config
file of the site wwwroot.
License keys are specific to:
■
Exact
SiteURL value (case sensitive) found
in the StoreFront™ Admin table
■
Streamlined Checkout™ Order number,
email and account password.
Licensing Streamlined Checkout™
License keys are generally generated by
following this standard procedure:
■
Open Streamlined Checkout™ Admin page as
described in above.
■
Enter your email address, password and
order number in the supplied fields, and
then
click the Generate License Key button.
■
Modify PENDX.SC.License.Key in your
web.config file(s), replacing the word
.Trial. with
your
newly generated license key (see section e
above)..
Add Streamlined Checkout™ entries to the Web.Config
file
StoreFront™ sites are configured
differently depending on the web host. Some
sites only have a
root/Web.Config file, and other sites have
both a root/Web.Config file and a root/ssl/Web.Config
file.
(1) root/Web.Config file only:
(a) Add the entries to the root/Web.Config
file.
(2) Both root/Web.Config file and root/ssl/Web.Config
file:
(a) Add the entries to both the root/Web.Config
and root/ssl/Web.Config files.
Add the following Web.Config entries
immediately above the <system.web> tag.
(Note: If you already have an <appSettings>
section in your Web.Config file, then
just
add the two <add> tags to the existing
<appSettings> section):
<appSettings>
<add key="PENDX.SC.Installed" value="True"
/>
<add key="PENDX.SC.License.Key"
value="Trial" />
</appSettings>
Important: Complete before
setting key="PENDX.SC.Installed" value="True". If you
specify in the web.config entries that
Streamlined Checkout™ is installed prior to loading the
Admin page for the first time, then Streamlined Checkout™ database tables will
never get
installed and Streamlined Checkout™ will not
function.

Site Migrations and Updates
In general migrations from one web host to
another do not effect the Streamlined
Checkout™ installation. However, if
during the migration changes are made to the
basic configuration of the StoreFront™ store
issues may occur with the Streamlined
Checkout™ configuration. These include
changes to:
■
SiteURL value found in the SF Admin
table
■
StoreFront shopping cart version
updates without updating Streamlined
Checkout version
■
Shared versus dedicated ssl
configuration
■
How the web host configures website
ssl
■
Customizations.
Failure to Communicate with Streamlined
Checkout License Server
Some StoreFront™ sites hosted with some 3rd
party web host experience problem
communicating with the Streamlined Checkout™
license server. Port 1443 for the web
server must be open for outbound
communications (standard for most web host
configurations) in order for the Streamlined
Checkout™ to communicate with the license
server. If port 1443 is closed for outbound
communications, the above message will be
displayed immediately.
If the Streamlined Checkout™ admin page
cannot contact the Streamlined Checkout™
license server, have your host check
enabling port 1443 fro outbound
communications or contact Streamlined
Checkout™ support to manually generate a
license key. Note that without a valid
license key, Streamlined Checkout™ will
function normally, but display a license
message at the to of the first page of
checkout.
