Trouble
with
International Shipping

Some merchants using Streamlined Checkout™
have encountered problems with returning
rates for International Shipping for USPS,
UPS, and FedEx. This is a known issue
that exists for versions of the StoreFront™
shopping cart prior to version 6.7.
Merchants using more recent versions of the
StoreFront™ cart do not experience this
problem. If you are a merchant
experiencing this issue check your version
of StoreFront.™ If it is prior to
version 6.7, the resolution to this problem
is to upgrade your StoreFront™ cart to a more
recent version.

Overview
Streamlined Checkout™ passes the
values the StoreFront™ cart returns from the
shipping gateway servers. For this
reason, Streamlined Checkout™ depends on the
APIs found in the StoreFront™ shopping cart
code for communication with shipping gateway
servers.
For merchants experiencing this issue,
domestic shipping rates are returned
successfully, but international addresses do
not return international rates successfully,
resulting in the display of the backup
shipping methods.
Unfortunately, best fix for this problem is
to upgrade the shopping cart to a more
recent version. There are, however,
the following workarounds that can be
adopted using Streamlined Checkout™:

Consider replacing international
shipping methods with custom shipping
methods
■
Consider taking international orders
by phone
■
Consider a shopping cart upgrade in
the larger context of taking your ecommerce
site to the
next level in terms of cart options, shopping
experience and Internet marketing.

Not having
tested this question or conducted a code
review, the reason why older versions of the
StoreFront cart experience this issue are
not fully clear, but may be related to
timeout settings related to how older carts
communicate with international shipping
servers through their APIs.
